Time is Priceless: Choosing What Truly Matters
Ephesians 5:15-16 – “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Proverbs 16:16 – “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!”
I. Introduction
Everyone chases money—jobs, businesses, opportunities.
Money is important; it provides for our needs. But it is replaceable.
Money is important—it meets our needs and provides comfort. But the Bible reminds us that time is far more precious. Why? Because money can be earned again, but once time is gone, it’s gone forever.
We live in a world where money seems to define success, comfort, and even security. It’s what we work hard for, save for, and spend to meet our needs and enjoy life. But if we pause and look deeper, we realize something important: money, as valuable as it is, is still replaceable.
💵 Money can be earned, saved, lost, and gained again. No matter how much you spend or lose, there will always be opportunities to work harder, invest better, or find new sources of income. It’s a resource that can flow in and out of our lives like a cycle.
Time, however, is irreplaceable. Once gone, it’s gone forever.
⏳ Time, on the other hand, is different. Every second that passes is gone forever. Unlike money, time cannot be saved in a bank, earned back, or borrowed from others. Once it slips away, it’s beyond recovery. That’s why time is the most precious currency we have.
The way we spend our time reveals what truly matters to us. You may have all the money in the world, but without time, you can’t enjoy it. Sample na lang yung mga may pera- pero may sakit/ they cannot enjoy their money kase yung pera nila pang gamut na lang nila.
May pera nga pero Walang time makasama ang buong pamilya
Yung mga prayer moment mo para ke Lord na dapat sana nagawa mo para mas naging malakas at matatag ka sa tukso ng kaaway at pag subog.
You may earn wealth, but if you don’t have time for your loved ones, your health, or your purpose, then wealth loses its meaning.
Example:
“996” work schedule. 996 refers to working 9 am to 9pm, six days a week.
Question: Are we investing more in money or in time that glorifies God?
II. The Truth About Money and Time
A. Money is Temporary (Proverbs 23:5)
Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
Wealth can disappear overnight.
You can always earn money again.
B. Time is Irreplaceable (James 4:14) Hindi po sya napapalitan...
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Life is like a mist—brief and uncertain.
Time lost cannot be regained, no matter how much money you have.
Example:
“SANA” (hopeful expression) instead of the usual “sana all” or something sad/longing.
Regretable "SANA....."
Sana nuon nag-aral ako ng maige para naging maayos ang buhay ko
Sana nuon hindi ako tinamad pumasok sa school
Sana nuon nakinig ako sa Nanay ko
Sana nuon ko pa tinanggap si Lord...
Dapat yung mga Sana po natin is yun mga pa blessing na "SANA" yung mga SANA na forward like
“Sana lagi tayong maging masaya sa maliliit na bagay.”
“Sana palaging puno ng pag-ibig ang ating mga puso.”
“Sana araw-araw may dahilan tayong magpasalamat.”
“Sana patuloy tayong gabayan ng Diyos sa lahat ng ating ginagawa.”
“Sana lagi nating piliin ang kabutihan kaysa sa galit o inggit.”
💡 These “Sana” statements express hope, gratitude, and positivity instead of regret or envy.
C. Time Reflects Our Priorities (Matthew 6:21)
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
How you spend your time shows what you truly value—family, faith, or just wealth.
So while money shows your lifestyle, time shows your priorities.
Use your money wisely, but guard your time fiercely. Invest your hours in people, experiences, and pursuits that will leave lasting value.
Because at the end of our lives, it won’t be the money we wish we had more of—it will be time.

III. Biblical Wisdom on Using Time
1. Number Your Days (Psalm 90:12)
The psalmist's plea, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12), is a profound prayer. It acknowledges our human tendency to live as if time is infinite, rather than a precious, finite gift.
To "number our days" is not to dwell on death, but to live with deliberate awareness.
Ang ‘bilangin ang ating mga araw’ ay hindi nangangahulugang magtuon sa kamatayan, kundi mamuhay nang may sinadyang kamalayan.
It's an invitation to cultivate a heart infused with divine wisdom, making choices that honor God and maximize our temporal existence for His glory.
Isa itong paanyaya na linangin ang pusong puspos ng banal na karunungan, na gumagawa ng mga pasyang nagbibigay karangalan sa Diyos at ginagamit nang lubusan ang ating panandaliang buhay para sa Kanyang kaluwalhatian.
Recognize life is short. | Isaisip na maikli lamang ang buhay.
Ask God for wisdom to live purposefully.
Hingin sa Diyos ang karunungan upang mamuhay nang may layunin.
2. Redeem the Time (Ephesians 5:15-16)
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
The Apostle Paul urges us to "redeem the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:16).
This isn't just about efficiency; it's about intentionality. To redeem time means to seize every opportunity for spiritual growth, for acts of love, and for advancing God's kingdom.
Be intentional in how you live.
“Maging may layunin sa paraan ng iyong pamumuhay.”
Don’t waste time on sin, trivial pursuits, or endless chasing of wealth.
“Huwag aksayahin ang oras sa kasalanan, walang saysay na bagay, o sa walang katapusang paghahabol ng kayamanan.”
YOLO- You Only Lived Once / New Age Movement - The world often says “YOLO” to justify chasing pleasures, taking risks without thinking, or living for the moment.
“Madalas sabihin ng mundo ang ‘YOLO’ upang bigyang-katwiran ang paghahabol sa kalayawan, pagkuha ng mga panganib nang hindi nag-iisip, o pamumuhay lamang para sa kasalukuyan.”
But as Christians, YOLO takes on a deeper and eternal meaning:
✅ You Only Live Once… so live for Christ.
Life on earth is short and temporary (James 4:14). We don’t get a second chance to live this life again, so every choice matters.
✅ You Only Live Once… so make it count for eternity.
Instead of wasting time on worldly pursuits, we are called to invest our days in what lasts forever—our relationship with God, loving others, and fulfilling His purpose. (Ephesians 5:15-16).
✅ You Only Live Once… but eternal life awaits.
Though we live once here on earth, our decisions determine how we’ll spend eternity—with God or apart from Him (John 3:16).
💡 Christian YOLO:
“You Only Live Once, so live wisely, love deeply, and serve God faithfully—for eternity is at stake.”
3. Invest in Eternal Things (Matthew 6:19-20)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Money fades, but investing in God’s Kingdom lasts forever.
“Ang pera ay kumukupas, ngunit ang pamumuhunan sa Kaharian ng Diyos ay mananatili magpakailanman.”
Time spent in prayer, service, and love brings eternal reward.
“Ang oras na ginugol sa panalangin, paglilingkod, at pag-ibig ay nagdadala ng gantimpalang walang hanggan.”
3.1. Teach your children about Christ, sowing seeds of faith that will outlast material wealth (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
3.2. Use your talents to serve in church, building God’s kingdom instead of just chasing worldly success (1 Corinthians 15:58).
3.3. Support missions and ministries that spread the Gospel, knowing souls are eternal (Matthew 6:19-20).
3.4. Help the poor and needy, trusting that his generosity honors God (Proverbs 19:17).

"While others invest only in stocks and properties, invest in prayer, kindness, service, and the Word of God—because these treasures last forever."
“Habang ang iba ay namumuhunan lamang sa stocks at ari-arian, mamuhunan ka sa panalangin, kabutihan, paglilingkod, at Salita ng Diyos—sapagkat ang mga kayamanang ito ay nananatili magpakailanman.”
IV. Application
Evaluate your schedule | Suriin ang iyong iskedyul: Where is your time going?
Prioritize relationships|Pahalagahan ang mga relasyon: Spend time with God, your family, and people who matter.
Shift perspective|Baguhin ang pananaw: Use money as a tool, not the ultimate goal.
Live with urgency|Mamuhay nang may pananabik at kahalagahan : Don’t procrastinate in doing good and following God’s call.
V. Take Away | Pabaon
Money can buy comfort, but only time well spent can build meaning, purpose, and eternal reward.
“Ang pera ay maaaring makabili ng ginhawa, ngunit tanging ang tamang paggamit ng oras lamang ang makapagbibigay ng kahulugan, layunin, at gantimpalang walang hanggan.”
“Money can be replaced, but time cannot.
What you do with your hours defines the true wealth of your life.”
“Maaaring mapalitan ang pera, ngunit hindi ang oras.
Ang ginagawa mo sa bawat oras ang siyang nagtatakda ng tunay na yaman ng iyong buhay.”
You can lose money and make it again.
But you can never lose time and get it back.
“Maaari kang mawalan ng pera at muling kitain ito.
Ngunit kapag nawala ang oras, kailanman ay hindi na ito maibabalik.”
Money can buy comfort, but not more time.
“Ang pera ay kayang magbigay ng ginhawa, ngunit hindi nito kayang bumili ng dagdag na oras.”
Time is God’s greatest gift—it’s life itself.
“Ang oras ay pinakadakilang kaloob ng Diyos—ito mismo ang buhay.”
True wealth is not in money earned but in time well spent for God’s glory.
