A Quiet Answer Can Be Powerful๐ทWomen’s Devotional
Proverbs 15:1 — “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
๐ Reflection:
Words have incredible power. A single sentence can heal a wounded heart, restore peace, or strengthen someone's courage. But words can also deepen wounds, create unnecessary conflict, and damage relationships.
God calls us to use our words wisely. A gentle answer does not mean allowing others to mistreat us or refusing to speak truth. Rather, it means choosing to communicate truth with grace and self-control.
There will be moments when someone says something hurtful and every part of you wants to respond immediately. But not every statement deserves an immediate reaction. Sometimes wisdom looks like taking a breath, praying quietly, and choosing words that bring peace rather than adding fuel to the situation.
As women of God, our speech should reflect the character of Christ. May our homes, workplaces, friendships, and ministries become places where people experience grace through the words we speak.
๐ช Reflection Questions:
- How do I respond when someone speaks harshly to me?
- Are my words generally creating peace or tension?
๐ Takeaways / Things to Do:
- Pause before responding to something that irritates you.
- Speak one intentional word of encouragement today.
- Ask God to help you control your tongue.
๐ Prayer:
Lord, place a guard over my mouth and give me wisdom in every conversation. Help me respond with grace even when others are difficult. May my words bring healing, peace, and encouragement wherever I go. Amen.
