Wisdom for the Words You Speak ๐ท
Wisdom for the Words You Speak๐ทWomen’s Devotional
Ecclesiastes 5:2 — “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.”
๐ Reflection:
In a world filled with constant opinions, instant reactions, and endless conversations, there is tremendous wisdom in knowing when to pause.
Not every thought needs to be spoken. Not every emotion requires an immediate response. Not every disagreement needs to become an argument.
Sometimes silence creates room for wisdom.
Ecclesiastes reminds us to approach God with reverence rather than rushing into words. There are times when we speak because we are anxious, frustrated, or trying to regain control. But God invites us to slow down.
Before speaking, we can ask: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it loving? Is this the right time?
A mature woman of God understands that wisdom is not measured by how much she says. Sometimes the most powerful response is a thoughtful pause followed by words chosen carefully.
Let your conversations become places where grace and wisdom are evident. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide not only what you say but also when you say it.
๐ช Reflection Questions:
- Do I sometimes speak before thinking or praying?
- Is there a conversation where I need to practice greater wisdom and restraint?
๐ Takeaways / Things to Do:
- Pause before responding to emotionally charged conversations.
- Pray before having an important discussion.
- Choose fewer words when silence would be wiser.
๐ Prayer:
Father, teach me to be wise with my words. Help me know when to speak, when to listen, and when to remain quiet. May everything I say be guided by Your Spirit and reflect the character of Christ. Amen.
